Berkeley

An 1880's Cabbagetown home is transformed into a modern oasis with a three-story addition, thoughtfully blended with the original brick facade. With floor-to-ceiling windows replacing the rear walls, the space is filled with natural light. Custom millwork, high ceilings, and mid-century furnishings — with unique accents throughout — combine for a warm and sophisticated look. Sliding doors connect the open-concept kitchen and living room with the backyard deck, for seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining. The main floor dining room is accented by the vertical wood slats of the staircase leading up to the second floor, which includes a large but cozy family room, guest bedroom, and bathroom featuring a dramatic wood wall, contrasted with hexagonal black tiles and a modern white freestanding tub. The third floor is dedicated to the master suite: a bedroom overlooking the mature trees of the backyard; a custom-built walk-in closet; and a bathroom with a concrete dual sink, private water closet, walk-in shower, and a morning coffee station concealed behind a millwork wall.
